Nursery 

 Here at Fir Bank Primary School, we organise our own Nursery admissions.

 We offer full time and part time Nursery places.

 Full time places are Monday to Friday, 9.00am-3.00pm, 30 hours in total.

 Part time places are Monday to Friday mornings, 9.00am – 12.00pm, 15 hours in total.

 We offer September intake (and January depending on ratios). Children can start nursery the term after their 3rd birthday.

 September applications close on the 28th March. January applications close at the end of November.

 School will write to parents to officially offer sessional or fulltime place at the beginning of the Summer term in April.

Reception

Children are admitted to the reception year in the September after their 4th birthday. Please click on this link Oldham Council Admission Information Informal visits to have a look around school before decisions are made are encouraged.

Your child will be offered the chance to visit the class he or she will be joining before starting in September. We have a ‘Moving Up’ day in July each year when all children spend a morning in the classes they will join in September.

Children can be admitted to any class during the school year if there is a vacancy.

Moving on – Transfer procedures

TO ANOTHER PRIMARY SCHOOL

If you wish your child to transfer to another primary school, you are requested to discuss this with the Head Teachers of both schools. The beginning of a school year is the best time for a transfer, but we realise that this is not always possible. Please ensure that we are informed of the name and address of the new school and any change of home address where appropriate.

TO SECONDARY SCHOOL

We have well-established links with the secondary schools in the area to which our pupils normally transfer. Decisions about secondary schooling are obviously a matter of parental choice. Parents are welcome to discuss this with the Head Teacher at any stage.
